Do I need a visa?

How much spending money should I take?
This is entirely up to you. Depending on where you choose to eat, a meal may cost you as little as a few euros, or as much as 15 euros. (back to top)

What kind of accommodation are we staying in?
As the Tour de Kosovo Sportive starts and ends in Prishina, we negotiating with a number of hotels,. However, hotels should be considered basic by UK standards . (back to top)

Where will the bikes be stored overnight during the tour?
We have a secure 'parking' area for the bikes and the added benefit of security guards to ensure the safety of the bikes. You will be given a security code/pass to enable you to access your bike outside of the ride times. (back to top)

How old do I have to be to take part?
For insurance reasons riders must be 18 years or over by 15 September 2010. (back to top)

Will there be any Kosovo cyclists on the ride?
Yes! The ride is open to all Kosovo cyclists who wish to take part. Each stage of the ride is being advertised in the country to encourage as many local participants as possible. (back to top)

What if I have a problem with my bike?
There will be a full mechanical team accompanying the tour, who should be able to fix any problems with your bike. They will carry spare parts in order to help them do so. You will be given emergency numbers to call for help if needed. (back to top)

What if I can't keep up?
The Tour de Kosovo Sportive is a challenging ride, but you will be able to ride at your own pace. There will be support vehicles on the course as long as there are cyclists riding. If you feel you cannot complete any of the stages, there will be transport to take you back to Prishtina. (back to top)

How fit do I need to be?
The Tour de Kosovo Sportive is a genuine challenge and you should be able to complete six hours cycling. The mountain climbs are not to be underestimated. It is your responsibility to make sure your are fit and healthy to take part in this challenging ride. We recommend that you consult with your doctor if you have any concerns. (back to top)

What will the weather be like?
September can be very warm, so we strongly recommend sub-block. Remember to pack a rain coat just in case though. (back to top)

Should I get any vaccinations?
Please seek up-to-date advice on vaccinations from your GP. (back to top)

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes! It is essential that you take out personal travel insurance to cover you for the entire duration of the tour, and that you ensure your policy covers you for taking part in the cycling activity. (back to top)

What's the time difference?
During the summer, Kosovo is 2 hours ahead of GMT. (back to top)

Should I tip?
A 10% tip is conventional and usually expected. (back to top)

What kind of plugs do they use?
European 2-pin plugs. (back to top)

Can I drink the tap water?
Whilst tap water is generally safe, it is treated differently than in the UK, so we advise you to stick to bottled water. This will be made available to you along each day's cycling route. (back to top)
